Beam Communications has received certification by Iridium Satellite Communications for use of Beam’s LiteDOCK docking station for the Iridium Extreme satellite phone. Beam will be the first manufacturer to receive Iridium’s official certification of a docking station for the Iridium Extreme satellite phone. Iridium is the world’s only satellite service provider that provides total global satellite communication coverage.
After the release of the Iridium Extreme, the most rugged satellite phone ever made, Beam began developing a series of docking stations that would complement the Iridium Extreme’s features. The Beam LiteDOCK docking station extends the use of the Iridium Extreme so it can be used for voice, data and tracking in vehicles, inside a building, on boats and other remote locations. Beam’s PotsDOCK includes features like external GPS connectivity. It also includes a RJ11 connection that can connect to a standard cordless or corded telephone. The RJ11 connection also allows the customer to connect to a PBX phone system for in building or on vessel use. Beam’s DriveDOCK provides features which includes hands free communications, Tracking, GPS, and Alert Capabilities.
Greg Ewert, executive vice president of global distribution channels Iridium said, “Iridium communications devices and services are more vital than ever in the global communications infrastructure. This is because of the ability of innovative partners, such as Beam, who make it possible to communicate through our network anywhere on Earth with tools that make connectivity possible where it was never before imagined.
The new LiteDOCK made by Beam for the Iridium Extreme satellite phone has been designed to meet market needs for land, air and sea applications. It will interface straight out of the box with SOS and tracking capabilities of the Iridium Extreme satellite phone. Beam plans to bring a series of three docking stations that will enhance the Iridium Extreme satellite phone. These will include the LiteDOCK, PotsDOCK, and DriveDOCK. Beam is based in Australia and is a leading provider of satellite docking stations for numerous handheld satellite phones.
